Dr. James K. Kurata, O.D.
Dr. James K. Kurata was born and raised in Los Angeles. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Whittier College in 1977, he received a Bachelor of Science in Ocular Science and a Doctor of Optometry in 1984 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He opened Kurata Eyecare Center over 30 years ago in Little Tokyo.
Dr. Kurata is passionate about providing the best personalized and elevated care to all his patients. One of his main specialties is fitting scleral contact lenses which is used to help patients with corneal disorders like keratoconus, post LASIK complications and other corneal irregularities. He also serves as a principal investigator for various contact lens clinical trials. Dr. Kurata is currently a member of both the American Optometric Association and California Optometric Association. Some of Dr. Kurata's interests include surfing and sports cars. He has participated in SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) and IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) racing events. He still maintains an active lifestyle, enjoying swimming and playing a round of golf with his wife, Kathy, a nationally ranked amateur golfer. |
